A freelance UI/UX designer researches how people use a product, structures the flows and screens around that, and designs the interface itself. I also build what I design - Shopify stores, WordPress sites with Elementor, and headless front ends in Next.js, React or Astro - so a project can go from idea to deployed site with one person and no handoff.
I am based in India and work with clients worldwide. Most of my work over the last six years has been with teams in the United States, the United Kingdom and India, coordinated remotely with overlapping hours agreed at the start of each engagement.
Senior design rates in India are considerably lower than equivalent rates in the US, UK or Australia for the same standard of work, which is why most of my clients are overseas. Remote collaboration has been the normal mode for my whole freelance career, so time zones and communication are a solved problem rather than a risk.
Yes, and it is a large part of my work. A redesign starts with an audit of the current product to find where users actually struggle, so the new design fixes real problems rather than just changing the styling.
Over six years and 88+ projects I have designed for SaaS platforms, financial services, e-learning, travel, ecommerce, advertising technology and community products. The process transfers across industries; what changes is how much domain research is needed up front.
Both. I design the interface and then build it - Shopify themes, WordPress with Elementor Pro, or headless front ends in Next.js, React and Astro backed by Payload, Strapi or Sanity. Removing the designer-to-developer handoff is where most of the quality and the time savings come from.
Shopify if you are selling products and want the commerce infrastructure solved for you. WordPress with Elementor if content changes often and non-technical staff must publish independently. Headless if you need top-tier performance, a custom front end, or one content source feeding several platforms. I build all three, so the recommendation is not driven by what I prefer to sell.
Two to three weeks for a focused piece such as a marketing site or a single app flow, and four to eight weeks for a full product design covering research, wireframes and a complete interface. The main variable is the number of screens and states, not the visual style.
Figma is my primary tool for interface design, prototyping and handoff. I also work in Adobe XD, Sketch, Illustrator and Photoshop, and I build in WordPress with Elementor Pro and Webflow when a project needs implementation as well as design.
You receive the editable Figma files, a documented component library, exported assets and annotated specs covering spacing, type and component states. For prototypes you also get a shareable link your team and stakeholders can click through.
Revisions are built into the process rather than capped at a number. I share work at each stage - structure, then wireframes, then visual design - so feedback lands while changes are still cheap. On hourly engagements revisions are simply part of the billed time.
I design and hand off to developers, and I can implement WordPress and Webflow builds myself. For React or custom builds I work alongside your development team, supplying specs and reviewing the build against the design.
I use AI tooling through the whole build - scaffolding components, writing boilerplate, generating content models, drafting tests and reviewing code - which removes most of the mechanical typing from a project. The design judgement, the architecture decisions and the review are still mine. In practice it compresses a build that would have taken five weeks into roughly one, at the same standard.
Shopify with Liquid for ecommerce; WordPress with Elementor Pro for content sites a team needs to edit; and for headless builds, Next.js, React or Astro on the front end with Payload, Strapi or Sanity as the CMS. TypeScript and Tailwind CSS throughout where the project allows.
It would if the output went unreviewed. Everything AI produces on my projects is read, corrected and tested before it ships, and the architecture decisions are made by me rather than generated. What AI removes is typing speed as a bottleneck, not judgement.
Yes, that is the usual shape of my work. Research and wireframes, interface design, build in your chosen stack, content modelling if it is headless, then deployment, redirects and handover documentation.
Yes. On an existing codebase I read it first and match its conventions rather than importing my own, and I am comfortable joining whatever review and branching process you already run.
I work at $24 per hour, $900 per week, or $3,520 per month for full-time dedicated work. Hourly suits short projects and consultations, weekly suits ongoing part-time support, and monthly suits teams that need an embedded designer.
Most engagements run through Upwork, which handles contracts, milestones and payment protection for both sides. For direct work I invoice against agreed milestones, typically with a deposit before the work starts.
No strict minimum, but engagements under about a week of work are usually better served hourly than weekly. If you have a small, well-defined piece of work, hourly is the most economical way to run it.
Both cover dedicated design time, revisions, working sessions with your team and developer support through the build. The weekly rate of $900 suits part-time ongoing work; the monthly rate of $3,520 covers full-time dedicated capacity.
Yes. An initial call to discuss the project, the approach and whether we are a good fit costs nothing. Email me with a short description of what you are building and we will find a time.
Yes - I am currently available for freelance projects and full-time contracts. The fastest way to check availability for your dates is to email me@bhumihirapara.com or message me on WhatsApp at +91 9998811943.
Email me@bhumihirapara.com with a short description of your project, your timeline and your budget range. I reply with whether it is a fit, a suggested approach and a rate, and we schedule a call from there.
Yes. I sign NDAs before receiving confidential material and work under a written contract covering scope, rates, timeline and IP ownership. On Upwork engagements the platform contract covers this.
You do. On final payment, full ownership of the design work and the source files transfers to you. I ask only to show the work in my portfolio, and I will keep anything confidential out of it if you prefer.
I work from India in IST (UTC+5:30) and routinely overlap with UK, European and US Eastern teams. We agree the overlap hours at the start of the engagement - usually a few hours a day - and I keep written updates flowing so progress stays visible without depending on meetings.
Yes. Static and headless front ends deploy to platforms like Vercel, Netlify or Cloudflare; WordPress and Shopify deploy to their respective hosting. I set up build hooks so content changes publish without a developer, and hand over documented access.
Email me and I’ll answer it directly - usually the same day.
